Naked Recyclers do it again and again....

Naked tubes are made from a mixture of PE ( polyethylene ) which is highly recyclable and is classified as a grade 2 plastic. Therefore please discard your empty tubes in the plastics recycling containers/collection service available through your local council. We intend to make this a lot clearer on pack to help people know what to do.

Naked shampoos and bodywashes are packaged in HDPE bottles which are a Grade 2 and highly recyclable, especially because we don't colour our bottles. We are working on using HDPE plastic which has already been recycled but this is not terribly reliable because, being made from post consumer waste, there is a strong odour which is enough to put anyone off using the product!

The good news is that our PET foam baths and hand washes use 100% recycled plastic bottles and are fully recyclable again. These are classed as a Grade 1 plastic for recycling.

In all cases, it is best practice to remove any type of lid or cap from a tube/bottle because they are inevitably not the same material and so have the potential to contaminate the plastic being recovered by type. Tops should therefore always be disposed of separately.

Many customers know we care about the impact of manufacturing using plastic and we do our very best to ensure we are as responsible as current technology allows. We would love to run Naked recycling schemes etc. but truly it is up to all of us to lobby our local councils to encourage better and better collection facilities.
