The marathon gets a beauty makeover

The London Marathon may be a dim and distant memory, but now there’s a new kind of marathon in town—the Benefit Mascarathon. It’s perfect for those of us who would rather spend time beautifying than pounding the pavements on a full 26-mile killer, but as an added bonus it’s all for a great cause too.
Benefit has teamed up with Refuge, the domestic violence charity for women and children, to create a marathon-style event with a proper beauty makeover. The Benebago will hit 7 cities between 15th and 27th June to host a Benenfit party, offering make-uppers, mascara giveaways, celebrity appearances and a whole lot more. Caroline Flack is fronting the campaign to raise awareness of such a great cause, and as it’s a mascarathon there’ll be running involved too—participants will be able to elect a 2 mile “leg” of their chosen route, and with it covering 500 miles there’ll be plenty to choose from.
The mascarathon will start in Edinburgh on June 15th and from there it’ll hit Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and Oxford before finally arriving in London on June 27th. There’ll be fundraising going on too—you can donate directly or get sponsored for your run with proceeds going to women and children who have been affected by domestic violence, with the 2 mile “legs” being intended to mark the 2 women who die every week as a result of such abuse.
It’s a fantastic cause, and what better way to show your support? We’re certainly keeping our eyes peeled for those Benefit parties, and a 2 mile run is certainly more achievable than 26. It’s the perfect combination of fitness and beauty and the charitable element makes it even better. Want to get involved? Then head to mascarathon.co.uk to grab more details, donate and get signed up.
