Seaweed Skin Care

We love all things natural when it comes to body care. Seaweed has long been used in skin care spa treatments, and while we might not enjoy the slimy green stuff on the beach, it does have a whole host of natural benefits from head to toe.
Seaweed is packed full of minerals and vitamins – in fact, too many to list! It’s got anti-oxidants and over 60 trace elements as well as fatty acids and lots of other goodies. It’s rare that something has all these things occurring naturally, so it’s worth knowing how it could enrich your beauty regime.
It can be used to draw out impurities and toxins, as well as regulating the oil levels of your skin. We’ve all seen those spa seaweed wraps – these work by drawing out the toxins from your skin, which then absorbs all those minerals from the seaweed through your pores. Face masks using seaweed can therefore help with oily skin, helping to detoxify and rejuvenate.
The antioxidants found in seaweed can help with ageing skin, helping cell regeneration and elasticity. This even works if you eat seaweed – which is another excuse to get that sushi for lunch! If you fancy immersing yourself in the goodness, seaweed baths can also help to make skin more supple all over your body. However, this involves bathing in a bath full of seaweed strands wrapped around you, along with seawater – if you’re a bit squeamish, you’ll need to brace yourself.
Seaweed is a top to toe treatment, and can even help you to add some sheen to your luscious locks. Hair needs vitamins and minerals too, and seaweed treatments can give deep moisture to both your hair and your scalp. Though we wouldn’t recommend beach combing for beauty supplies, if you’re looking for a new natural treatment to try, then seaweed could be for you.
