We’ve been speaking with the lovely Jennie from Sailorjennie.blogspot.com, she likes cosy tea shops, flowers, literature, make up, photography and the seaside so we instantly took a liking!

Hi Jennie, thank you very much for agreeing to our mini interview!
Hi, thank you so much for asking me!
First question Tell us a bit about you? Where do you live and what do you do?
I’m Jennie, I’m 21 years old and I live beside the seaside on the south coast of England. At the moment I work part time in fashion retail while studying for an English Language & Literature degree with the Open University and dabbling with photography on the side.
We love cakes, what’s your favourite cake?
Ooh any kind of cheesecake, preferably strawberry, but I’m not fussy! You really can’t beat a good cheesecake!
Your blog is great, what made you start writing?
When I was younger I would sit and write stories for hours and read them to anyone that would listen, but as I grew up, life took over and it wasn’t something I would do anymore. When I decided to leave my photography course at University I had the opportunity to think about all the things I really wanted to do and writing was one of them. I’m not creatively minded enough to write stories anymore but I’d been reading so many well-constructed blogs about beauty, fashion & even just everyday life and they really inspired me to start my own. I never thought I’d get so many readers but I’m completely over the moon about it and very grateful for anyone that takes the time to read or comment on my posts.
We are always browsing the net for quirky things, do you have any favourite websites?
I adore http://love.givesmehope.com/ and if you’re anything like me, some of those stories will have you blubbing away! It’s a lovely website that celebrates the best parts of human nature and it never fails to make me smile!
Do you have any pets? If so tell us a bit about them?
I adore animals and over the years my family have had everything from chickens to chinchillas! I have a very elderly hamster called Bear who, if he were human, I’m sure would have a long grey beard and a walking stick. I also recently got a baby bunny called Ralphie who’s proving to be very cheeky! They really do become well-loved members of the family and I couldn’t be without them.

We see that you’re quite a beauty junkie! What are your favourite beauty brands and why?
My absolute favourite make up brand is Illamasqua. Not only do they have incredible products, there’s real substance and strong ethics behind the brand, which is something that always appeals to me. We’re presented with so-called ‘perfection’ in the media on a daily basis but the ethos behind Illamasqua is that it’s okay to be a little bit different and you can use make up to really embrace your alter ego.
Skin, hair & body care wise Naked, Good Things and Neal’s Yard are my favourites. Naked, as I’m sure everyone knows, is a brand I’ve loved for a long time for hair & body care and I don’t think I need to give any other reason as to why other than Naked are amazing! Neal’s Yard and Good Things are brands I’ve come across this year in my quest for more natural skincare products and I’m very impressed with the results I’ve had.
We’ve noticed that you’ve taken some really pretty pictures, can you share one of your favourites with us?
Thank you so much! This will always be one of my personal favourites because I associate it with so many good memories! http://www.flickr.com/photos/jennie_photography/2652984128/

If you were stuck on a desert island what Naked product would you have to bring and why?
Eep, just one?! I think I’d have to pick the sea minerals salt scrub because it exfoliates beautifully and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth & moisturised. If I could sneak in a couple more products the Coco de Mer body butter and the rose softening facial wash would be with me at all times as well because they’re gorgeous!
If you could have any superhero power what would it be?
Invisibility for sure! I’m sure it’s not the most useful of superpowers but I really wish I could borrow Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak, even just for a day.
We’ve noticed that in your blog you feature lots of natural brands. Do you prefer to use products with natural ingredients? Does your skin benefit?
Absolutely! My skin must come in to contact with enough unnatural ingredients through my love of make up and I thought it would be nice to try and use skin, hair & body care products that were more natural. Having had bad acne in the past I’m almost positive switching to mineral make up from heavy liquid foundation was one of the most beneficial things I did for my skin and I think that was the point I started to research and actively look for more natural products. Since switching up my skincare routine from harsh chemical filled products to ones with more natural ingredients my complexion has improved dramatically which I’m so happy with. I’m definitely very excited about the new Naked skincare products in the pipeline and I can’t wait to get my hands on some!
